Kebbi CAN Clarifies N30m Was for Crusade, Not a Personal Gift

Kebbi State CAN says ₦30m donation from Governor Idris supported a joint Christian crusade, not Pastor Paul Enenche personally, and was used for community projects.

NEW PRESS STATEMENT scaled

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kebbi State chapter, has addressed recent claims that it rejected a ₦30 million donation from the state government during a Christian crusade in Birnin Kebbi.

In an official statement signed by CAN Chairman, Venerable Ayyuba Kanta, the association clarified that the money was not a personal offering to any religious figure but rather financial support for the “Kebbi State Healing and Deliverance Crusade,” jointly organized by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and CAN.

“The ₦30 million was in support of the crusade,” the statement said. “It was not a personal gift to any individual.”

The statement further explained that Pastor Paul Enenche, who ministered at the crusade, maintains a personal policy of not receiving honorariums or monetary gifts during ministry events. Following his recommendation, CAN redirected the donation to developmental projects.

Among the initiatives funded with the money was the construction of a perimeter fence at a newly approved Christian cemetery in the state, CAN confirmed.

The association also thanked Governor Nasir Idris for his support, which included providing access to the state stadium for the crusade, use of the Presidential Lodge banquet hall for a ministers’ meeting, and coordinating palliative distribution to women and students during the event.

CAN reaffirmed its positive relationship with the state government, describing Governor Idris as “a friend of Christians and the CAN leadership in Kebbi State.”
