Position Overview

The Human Resources Team Leader is responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining RBTC Nigeria’s human resources (Paid and non-paid team members) by planning, organising, implementing and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programmes, and practices. He / She is responsible for the management of RBTC Nigeria’s recruitment and selection, benefits administration, employee classification and compensation, performance appraisal, training, health safety and environment (HSE), discipline and employee grievances procedures.

 

Responsibilities / Duties

Must maintain a vibrant, passionate and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Develop and maintain a resource team of highly capable paid and volunteer team members by establishing and administering a recruiting, testing, interviewing and placement programme.
Completes human resource operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

Prepare and implement the annual HR Plan to support the overall strategic aims and objectives of the Board.
Develop, implement and maintain HR policies and procedures, SOMs and SOPs to ensure effective, fair and consistent management of staff throughout the organisation, and ensure that the staff handbook is comprehensive and up-to-date.

Maintain the HR’s database and generate scheduled or requested reports to assist management.
Ensure that managers and staff are aware of the currently applicable policies and procedures and able to operate them effectively. Identify, design and implement strategic HR projects, as and when required.

Counsel managers and team leaders on candidate selection. Conduct employee orientations and exit interviews with an analysis of the results being presented to the responsible management staff.
Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies consistent with the culture of the ministry while complying with applicable rules and laws governing employment practices.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge of Nigeria’ Federal and state HR laws and practices as it relates to ministry / non-profit organisation. Submit all required HR reporting to governmental and other agencies, representing the organisation at HR hearings.

Manages the induction of new staff, plan annual reviews, annual team retreats, and capacity building trainings.
Responsible for the administration of the RBTC Nigeria’s benefits programmes, including Health Insurance etc. Administration includes claims processing and resolution, approving invoices for payment, annual evaluation of programmes and policies for cost-effectiveness and utilization.

Contribute to the continued improvement of the efficiency of the organization by monitoring performance indicators, such as sickness absence, levels of concerns/complaints, types of corrective action, and work/life balance; develop initiatives and solutions to enable positive trends.

Scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances, counselling employees and supervisors.

In consultation with line managers, follow-up individual development needs and source external training provision as and when required, monitoring training costs against budget.
Maintain employee benefits programmes and inform employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends, recommending benefit programmes to management, directing the processing of benefit claims, obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids / awarding benefit contracts.
Annually update compensation programmes, reviews job descriptions, evaluate and maintain job description standards; recommending, planning and implementing approved changes.
Manage and communicate human resource benefits in a way that empowers staff to remain focused on their jobs.
Work with Accounts & Finance department to prepare and administer payroll and all payroll-related activities.
Maintains a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations, preparing pay budgets, monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions, recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.

Participates in management staff meetings. Maintains organisation charts, employee directory and historical records for ease of retrieval and confidentiality.

Work closely with senior and line managers, providing them with expert guidance, coaching and support on the full range of HR activities (including policies and procedures, terms and conditions of employment, absence management, restructuring of services, performance management, employee discipline, redundancy planning etc.), in order to ensure a consistent and fair approach to people management throughout RBTC Nigeria.
Develop and maintain an effective partnership with the Staff Forum ensuring consultation and communication practices are routinely adopted to enable management make effective decisions and successfully implement proposals.

Ensure that staff are properly informed and updated on key business and organisational issues.
Makes sure that the workspace, computer and other equipment, mailbox, and appropriate installed software are ready for the new employee’s start day.
Work with Logistics Team to obtain VISAs for employees and other team members needing to travel abroad on official duty.

Writes newspaper classified ads and posts ads on the Internet and in places appropriate for promoting the ad for the open position.

Provide on the job and other training opportunities for HR / Volunteer Dream team members.
Other responsibilities and duties which are commensurate with the post.

Education and Training

B.Sc., HND or equivalent in Business Administration or related discipline.

Specialisation in HR/Personnel Management.

Professional certifications.

Work Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related position with demonstrated accomplishments.
