Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, voluntarily visited the Police Headquarters in Ikeja for questioning.
On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed that Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, voluntarily visited the Police Headquarters in Ikeja for questioning. This follows a viral video showing him holding an object that appeared to resemble a firearm.
In an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the police stated: “No one is above the law. Pastor Adefarasin is currently being questioned by detectives, and the outcome of the investigation will be made public.”
The video, which emerged earlier in June, depicted Adefarasin in a Range Rover, lowering his window to interact with a road user while holding a black object, sparking online speculation that it was a firearm. Adefarasin refuted this on X, stating, “The object was not a firearm, and I never pointed it at anyone. We understand the concern and ask for patience.” He promised to address the issue during his Sunday service.
Eyewitness accounts suggested the incident occurred when a passer-by recognized Adefarasin in traffic, prompting him to raise the object. During a live-streamed Sunday sermon, the 62-year-old cleric called the accusations “hurtful” and “malicious,” explaining, “I was falsely accused of pointing a firearm at an aggressive content creator who approached within a meter of my car. I don’t have a pistol license or carry a firearm.” He criticized “clickbaiters” for spreading misinformation for financial gain and admitted feeling “shocked” and “hurt” but found solace in faith, saying, “What the enemy means for evil, God works for good.”
