Dr. Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has explained why he turned down a ₦30 million donation from Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, during a recent crusade in the state.

During a Sunday sermon at the Dunamis headquarters in Abuja, Pastor Enenche said his decision was based on a long-standing conviction to keep his ministry free from political or government influence.

“This is who we’ve always been,” Enenche said. “People who know us understand that rejecting government funds isn’t new—we’ve lived this way for decades.”

The pastor clarified that his refusal was not a personal rejection of Governor Idris but a principled stand he has consistently maintained throughout his ministry. He cited several past instances to support his decision.

In 2014, during a national pilgrimage to Jerusalem with then-President Goodluck Jonathan and several state governors, Enenche said he not only declined the official honorarium but also paid his travel expenses.

“When we returned, the chairman of the Pilgrims Board offered me an honorarium—I turned it down,” he recounted.

Enenche emphasized that no part of his ministry’s ongoing projects, including the massive Glory Dome headquarters, has been funded by government money. “Not one naira of government funds is in this building,” he stressed.

He also mentioned refusing gifts from other politicians, including a personal friend who offered him a vehicle after becoming a government minister.

For Enenche, the choice is about remaining prophetically independent and morally uncompromised. “If you touch government money, you lose the voice to speak truth,” he said. “I want to be free to declare God’s word without fear or favor.”
